About

Hello! I’m Nick Vialpando, Founder of Compleat Artworks.

My work is inspired by watching the world change rapidly through technology, and humanities’ response to that change. Be it the frustrations that have become part of our every day lives, or the nostalgia we have looking back at a world long past. Comparing the geological timeline to the technological timeline we can imagine with the rapid evolution of technology, where some of the artifacts of past technology may be in the stages of preservation. It’s fun to step back and see how many iterations of phones we had before arriving where we are now. Or to think of all of the toys that helped shape you and what you find entertaining today. To think of what a VHS tape would look like today if it was a living organism that had to evolve like the rest of the planet. As we allowed technology to become such an integral part of our lives, we didn’t afford ourselves the time to fully adapt to this new world we find ourselves in, and it leaves us sometimes longing for simpler times. My work attempts to help navigate these feelings.

Born in 1992 I grew up in Denver, Colorado. As a child, and maybe a result of Jurassic Park being the first movie I can remember seeing, I have a passion for fossils and relics. I also got to watch as we went from a household with corded phones, to one with a computer and dial-up, to broadband and cordless phones, to high-speed internet and cell phones. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts from Colorado Mesa University, and my Master of Fine Arts from The University of Mississippi, Both with an emphasis in sculpture.
